Scope
Preparing for a career in Computer Application & IT requires not only basic domain knowledge in the field of Computer Science but also hands-on experience of applying the knowledge in practice. BCA or Bachelor of Computer Applications is a new age undergraduate programme, where students are exposed to various areas of computer application while staying abreast with the latest developments taking place in the IT & ITES industry. Accordingly, Bachelor of Computer Application [BCA] Programme emphasizes on understanding the basic Computer Languages, Software and Platforms coupled with working skill on these areas.
Career Objectives
With the incredible growth in the Indian IT and ITES sector, there is an increasing need for computer professionals to catering to the needs of the industry both in India as well as in the Global markets. Graduates of this course can either opt for acquiring higher qualifications like MCA, MS and MBA in India and abroad or become an entrepreneur to start their own business. Job opportunities in the IT and ITES industries also open up after the completion of this course. Overall placement status in The Academy for BCA programmes in the last Academic Year was highly satisfactory. Majority of the willing students, who were eligible as per recruiter's norms have been suitably placed.

INFRASTRUCTURE
Postal Facilities
All postal facilities are available at the East Kolkata Township P.O. located nearby. There is also an arrangement with DTDC so that members of faculty, staff and students can also avail the courier services themselves.
Lecture and Tutorial Rooms
Classrooms are very spacious, airy and equipped with overhead projectors and modern magnetic ceramic boards. Separate tutorial rooms are also available for special classes. Model classrooms are fitted with LCD Projectors with a white screen.
Central Computing Facilities
A Central Computer Centre is exclusively available to the students for net surfing and online study. All post-graduate degree awarding departments have their own project laboratories for research and development work. All the computers are LAN connected with 200Mbps leased line 24/7. All students are provided with unique Email IDs to give them constant access to institute related information. A Satellite Interactive Terminal (SIT), installed by ISRO and WBUT, with video conferencing facilities is also available.
Sports / Games
There are excellent facilities for outdoor games and sports like cricket, football, volleyball, basketball, golf and swimming, managed by a Sports Officer and a Swimming Instructor.
Health Care
A medical unit is available on campus aside from arrangements with hospitals located nearby.
Fire Fighting
As per stipulations of the West Bengal Fire Fighting Services Act, dedicated plumbing and fire fighting cylinders have been provided in each floor of the Institute building.
Transportation
Two-way transportation is available from prominent locations in Kolkata at scheduled hours based on students' demand. Transport facilities for members of faculty and staff, as well as for visitors, are available from the Traffic Island near Ruby General Hospital.
Common Rooms
The Institute has common rooms (separately for boys and girls) equipped with indoor games facilities like Table Tennis, Carrom, Chess, etc.
